new short story!
update!
i wrote a new short story--i thought i could do it in one night, but it ended up taking 3 days. and it's not beta'd. because it's actual *gasp* vamp wil/tara fluff! it's called 'the veracity of vamp willow', which was inspired by tinna karen's 'the mendacity of tara maclay'. not really a spoof, just a take off. you can read 'mendacity' uh, link in my 'more btvs' links page, or go to....'through the looking glass' site. i noticed it was there too.

'Veracity' is on the 'more stories' page.

no, there's no 'master willow' update. never. not in a million years.

This was great! I liked it and I don't normally do fluff but it was sweet in the places it needed to be and funny and had good emotion. I especially liked the Faith/Tara thing. And as much as I love vamp willow/tara, I really like the affection you put between Vamp Willow and puppy.

hullo jade, thank you! i read fluff, it's like having a sweet cookie or a chocolate muffin for lunch rather than a garlic toasted bagel with lox, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and capers...which has such a nice bite to it. oh great, now i'm hungry. ;) so i surprised myself by writing a muffin, because vamp wil, wishverse, and light hearted comedy don't seem to go quite together. glad faith and tara chemistry worked out, i always liked them as a couple (espec. anya/tara!). vamp wil/puppy is becoming an interesting surprise, that can be a very complex relationship because it's easy to add a third person (tara of course), so i'm growing increasingly intrigued with the concept....thanks again for the feedback! ~e!

Hi there. Gosh, I just love when you come out with another piece. It really, really makes my day (and that’s so not meant to be a cliché, a la Vamp Will’s Bogart.)

In Veracity I loved how you captured the way infatuation/love makes us do zany things, things we would never dream that we’d do or be, for example Willow – a vampire, mind you -- rendered pretty well impotent when first laying eyes on Tara (but then again who wouldn’t be, for goodness sake. *sigh*). Your characterisation of Willow watching, from afar, Faith ‘stealing’ Tara away was just so heartbreaking. I thought it was brilliant how you compared Vamp Willow’s distress to the keening of an (wounded) animal – something that Tara would naturally be predisposed to caring for. (Did you strategize this or did it just happen?) It really pulled on my heartstrings. And Faith, bless her, just stumbles on, kicking puppy-Willow, completely unaware that she was paving the way for Will right to Tara’s heart. Only you can bring such poignancy to fluff!

I’m not a hardy-har-har laugh-out-loud kind of person, but I have to tell you, when the Slayer picked up one of Willow’s books to read, or pretended to read and Willow mused that she was pretty sure the Slayer was illiterate – that absolutely made me guffaw out loud. Which is just so uncharacteristic of me. And that’s what I really love about your writing. While you give us lots of detail which forms insight into the setting and characters, your writing is always so controlled and spot-on tight. And when you slip something in like giving voice to Willow’s flippancy, it works so beautifully because you don’t flub that chance with superfluous narrative, or description, or whatever. There probably a literary term for what I’m trying to tell you. Suffice to say, love your narrative, love your dialogue, love your plot, love your trusty but always a chapter behind Faith, love your gorgeous trusting and wise Tara, love your vulnerable and playful Vamp Will. And Dark Buff, well, she just makes me shiver. I don’t like her. But I’m drawn to her and I don’t want to be. I really don’t want to be. But she fascinates me. So, gosh darn you! Gosh darn you! :)

And something that has nothing to do with writing or fan-fiction: you once ask me if the UK still had Thai-flavoured crisps. I was born and raised in the US, and moved here about 7 years ago. The one thing that has always amused me is the stunning variety of flavoured potato chips and I don’t just mean salt and vinegar or cheese and onion. Let me name a few from my local pub: prawn cocktail; chicken tikka marsala; Marmite; baked beans; T-bone steak; sweet corn and pickle. Just recently Tescos, one of the four main supermarkets here, began a Thai-flavoured crisp. So yes. Thai-flavoured are in! Hmmm… hungry now!

Hope you have had a nice weekend.

hello daiailun!
you wrote: I thought it was brilliant how you compared Vamp Willow’s distress to the keening of an (wounded) animal – something that Tara would naturally be predisposed to caring for. (Did you strategize this or did it just happen?)
me: that, actually, is me pulling an idea i wanted to do in 'brave eyes II' into the comedy situation of 'veracity'. you'll see what that idea is, in the story that grew from 'dance vignette' into 'brave eyes 2', as soon as i er, write it. ;)
and goodness! what can i say to all this praise except a mere thank you? you are so very kind! hard work, a focus on quality and delivering the goods makes for a successful story. this has been great practice for me to figure out how to stop drawing pictures (i do comic books) and still deliver on the kind of worthwhile entertainment/experience i want to give people without my dependancy on sequential art. it's good to see i've hit on the right (or one of the right) attitudes and styles in order to do that.
dark buf: i really don't like her either, she's a scary girl. ;) but in a wishverse scenario, she has to be there, and when she's there, i think she makes vamp wil look really appealing by comparision!
flavored crisps: well darn it, now i'm hankering for some! LOL i can't believe the range in flavors--for one thing, 'marmite'?? i couldn't help myself, i read that and my face screwed up like i ate something sour. out of curiousity (which killed the cat), i bought a jar of marmite once, thinking how fun! taking up the interesting habit of spreading vegetable protein on bread! i tried it. i never tried it again. the marmite now remains a sober reminder of 'acquired taste'.
that said, everything else sounds like a 'meal', wrapped up in a crisp! :D
hope you are enjoying whichever one your munching on!
